Kenyan Doctors Project

Missionaries to Kenya, Africa

Need: $2,500.00

Two years ago iMap took a team of Doctors from Broadway Ave. Baptist Church to Kenya to do a medical missions trip with Jerry Daniels ministry in Nanyuki, Kenya. While we were there doing some training in the Nanyuki hospital we saw the conditions that the Kenyan doctors had to work in without much medical equipments and support.

Dr. Sanderson, one of our physicians, saw the need and the opportunity to help. He contacted his hospital, and the St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise has donated approximately $750,000.00 of equipment and supplies to be donated to the Nanyuki, Kenya hospital.

We have done a medical missions trip there and have seen the terrible conditions at that hospital because of a lack of equipment and space. We can’t do anything about the space, but we can help with the equipment. Here is some of what has been donated :

  • 4 Anesthesia machines
  • 1 New defibrillator
  • 3 microscopes
  • 3 Colonoscopy scopes
  • 5 fetal monitors
  • 1 incubator and monitors
  • 1 C-arm X ray machine that is digital and not film
  • This is important because they won’t need to replenish film or supplies
  • Boxes of sterile supplies, bandages, gloves, hypos, etc.

Dr. Tom Sanderson has done extensive training in Kenya, and has done the screening for this equipment to make sure the hospital physicians and staff, know how to use it. Manuals have been supplied as well as extra pieces of equipment for spare parts.

iMap has raised the money for shipping and packing but now needs to raise the money for the container. They do not have adequate storage space for this equipment, so if we can purchase and leave the container, it will satisfy that need.

Container and ground transportation: $4,000.00
Raised: $1,500.00
Need: $2,500.00

Thank you for considering this project.
